Sayer aims to correct meaningful factual errors in the published record. This page explains how to request a correction and how those requests are handled. It does not promise that every report will be free of error, and it does not set a fixed response time.

What is corrected

Material errors of fact — names, dates, figures, what a source said, or what a document shows — should be corrected in the article. The correction should be clear enough that a reader can see what changed.

Minor spelling, formatting, or grammatical changes do not necessarily require a correction notice. Tightening a sentence without changing its meaning is an edit, not a correction.

How corrections and updates are disclosed

When a published report is corrected or updated in a meaningful way, that change is disclosed on the affected article, where appropriate. The article itself is the public record of the change. Readers should look to the story page for revised wording and, when the change is material, an updated date.

Developing stories may change as new verified information becomes available. An update of that kind is not always a correction. Recent or still-developing reports may also show a publication time.

How to request a correction

Write to desk@sayer.news. Please include:

  • the article URL
  • the passage you believe is wrong
  • the record you believe Sayer missed — a document, filing, transcript, or other source

A disagreement with a headline’s emphasis, or with the decision to cover a story, is not by itself a correction request. Those notes are still read, but they are not handled as factual errors.

How requests are reviewed

Correction requests are reviewed against available evidence. The existence of a complaint does not, on its own, establish that the article is wrong. If the published wording is supported by the record, Sayer may leave it in place. If the record shows an error, the article should be corrected and, where appropriate, that correction should be visible on the same page.

This policy does not commit Sayer to a specific turnaround time. Requests are handled as part of desk work.

Editorial policy is on the standards page. Other ways to reach the desk are on the contact page.
